Background - The Furbolg's Story Empty
PostSubject: Background - The Furbolg's Story   Background - The Furbolg's Story I_icon_minitimeThu Jul 26, 2012 7:29 am

The Furbolgs were peaceful herbalists, creatures that lived in calm harmony with nature and the land around them. This was always something that was attributed with them, and was always something that they sought to uphold. For thousands upon thousands of years, the Furbolg race lived alongside the Kaldorein populace with minimal unrest.

This changed suddenly when the Orb was introduced into their village. It brought with it Demonic corruption and turned Furbolg against Furbolg and Furbolg against traveller. It endorsed pain and suffering and was the sole cause of much trouble involving the Furbolgs and the people of Ashenvale.

The Orb held its influence in silent dominance for a long while before finally being exposed by Captain Jonathan Delder and numerous other Jades. They found the item and removed it from the Furbolg village, thus stopping the taint from spreading further. The item was then supposedly destroyed by them in Ashenvale.

While the violence with the Furbolgs in Ashenvale died down and things began to return to normal regarding their relations with the Kaldorei, the Furbolg race in Darkshore continued to show signs of activity, and curious numbers of missing peoples were found around the Furbolg camps; dead. In the Southern Furbolg camp in Darkshore, one seer took charge of the situation.

He delved deep into the caves within their village and discovered the source of this tribe’s issue. Another of the Orbs was sitting there, covered by a small number of leaves and foliage. It would have been easily noticed, so the seer was surprised that he had not seen it before now. When he neared the Orb, it began to have a strange, almost oppressive feel.

The other Furbolgs did not realise what was happening to their seer, but after a number of weeks, it was obvious that something had come over their once-wise leader. He consulted nightly with the Orb, taking its word over his own and leading by its will, not his previously great connection with nature.

He lost his mind to the Orb, and its influence was the only thing keeping him connected with the mortal pane. Eventually a new leader was chosen, and the old seer was left to dawdle in his dreams, left to speak to the Orb alone, without fear that he would lead the tribe foolishly. The new leader was smart, and things soon got back to normal.

The Orb was eventually found once again by members of The Jade Gathering, and it was banished accordingly by them, presumably properly dealt with. Once the corruption spread by the Orb was ended, the Furbolg tribe began to relax once more and open its borders. Hunting was encouraged, and the tribesmen began to become more established in the field of combat.

All was quiet until the Twilight Hammer decided to move its forces into the forest near to the Furbolg village. They killed local wildlife and cut down trees in order to fuel their urbanisation. But by far the most prominent and destructive factor with their new movement was the Demonic corruption they brought with them.

It changed the ways the forest used to operate, and the Furbolgs suffered because of this. The bears became more aggressive and the stags more fearsome of the hunters, which all had a negative impact on the Furbolg’s hunting. But by far the most substantial issue with the newfound corruption was the large wolf-like being that was seen to be wandering the forest with no particular goal.

It killed the Furbolg hunters when they were out looking for prey and stopped the children venturing out into the surrounding area. It had become the fear of the entire village, and until late, it was sighted on a regular basis. But now the wolf seems to have left the area, and the Furbolgs can turn their attention elsewhere.

Now, with other issues out of the way, the Furbolgs once again turn their eyes upon the Twilight Cultists within Darkshore, and with this, they can begin to offer their aid to the locals, and, undoubtedly, The Jade Gathering , as the Druids within seek to make a difference.
